First off, Art club has a new illustration for this month. For those of you in Print Club: remember that prints go out every 3 months, and please remember to make sure your address is correct. I had half a dozen get returned to sender last time, so if you haven't gotten your prints in a bit, this might be why. If you just want to support me and not get physical prints anymore, please let me know.
Happy Gay Wrath month! We've got a lot to be upset about this year, and I hope we can find ways of using these big gatherings of queer people to do more organizing for change.
I made a whole lot of new queer gear for this year, and I'm hella proud of it. The theme is Queer as in Fuck You, and it is the polar opposite of Target's sad beige baby line. Click below to see it.
The clothes I make have been steadily replacing the rest of my wardrobe because they are cute and very comfy. Whether you get stuff from me or not, keep your queer dollars in queer pockets this year. Corporate support is and always has been conditional, but I will always be queer and be here for the community.
At the end of this month, I'm gonna be in Chicago for CAKE, my favorite comic convention!

I miiiiiiiight even have some physical copies of Magical Women issue 1! In the meantime, I've got the digital ebook up for sale in my shop. For paying subscribers, I'll soon be sending out a link to get it for free.
I've been having such a blast working on Magical Women. Remember, you can read it at magicalwomencomic.com, or you can get updates a month early by subscribing here, where it's available for all paid subscribers.
In bittersweet news, I've decided to close my brick and mortar physical shop at the end of September. It was a smashing success before Trump took office, but the past 6 months have been pretty dang bad. So many people are spending 100% of their money on survival these days, and I'm not the sort of person who's going to try to convince people to buy comics from me rather than paying rent. I'm not a ruthless business owner who will stop at nothing to make money. It's just not in me.
I've also just been having a lot of creative block from the pressure that comes with making 100% of my living from freelance art. I want to make things that make me happy rather than what I think will make money, in part because I am terrible at predicting what things will make money! Every single craft fair I've done the past few years (and I'm getting burnt out on those, too), the most popular thing at my table ends up being something I threw in there at the last minute because I had the space.
But this brings me to my good news: I'm gonna be a cheesemonger again!! The cheese shop I used to work at is opening a new location in my city, so I can resume the best day job I've ever had! The most financially stable I've ever been has been when I worked at the cheese shop part time and did art part time, and I get to go back to that. My bosses at the new location even chose to pay me more than what I asked for, which makes this my highest paying day job ever. They told me my skills and experience were worth the money, a very rare thing to hear from a boss these days. This company has been so good to me, above and beyond since I first started working there in 2012. Get ready for even more cheese talk!
I've gotten a lot of good ideas while working in the cheese shop. I get a lot from long car rides, too. I just finished writing the second draft of my next novel, a horror novel about cooking. I think it still needs a lot of work, but so far every reader has been thrilled by it, if perhaps a little queasy in some parts.
Speaking of novels, there's a new chapter of Cruel Muse for y'all to read.
This summer is gonna be a busy one. Closing one store, opening another, and editing editing editing. But also, I have a new kitten to raise! Ah, it really has been a big month for me, huh?

Whenever I start to feel angry at the world, I kiss her sweet little head and try to imagine life from her point of view. No politics. No bills. Just fluff.
That's it for this month. I gotta go resume kitten-proofing the house!
